Poole’s is a modern diner with reimagined comfort food. In operation since 1945, when it opened as Poole’s Pie Shop, this special place is a Raleigh landmark where generations of locals have gathered to dine, celebrate, and rub elbows.
Since 2007, Poole’s has been under the stewardship of chef Ashley Christensen and her team, who have honored the spirit of the diner’s comfort food roots, with an emphasis on seasonal, locally produced ingredients and attention to detail. The dedication to warm hospitality, exceptional flavors, and creative cooking has earned her two James Beard Foundation awards.
Poole’s has grown over the years, expanding from the original shotgun diner space into the building next door. This has created more opportunities to host visitors and regulars alike. Guests can enjoy dinner seven nights a week at the original Double Horseshoe counter or the Main Dining Room. For a quick drink or snack, the lounge is the perfect place. Or book your next private event in our private dining room, a cozy, intimate space in the back of the original diner.

Double Horseshoe Counter
The soul of Poole’s. We take reservations for 12 counter seats each dinner service; the remaining 12 seats are available for walk-ins. The maximum party size is four guests.

Our spacious main dining room and bar is at the center of the action. Enjoy a full Poole’s experience.
